Nurburgring & Stuttgart 2025
We go to the Nurburgring at least once a year and for 2025 we visited during the first part of a multi-week motoring extravaganza, with the Alpine Porsche Drive beginning immediately after the Nurburgring trip ended. Stuttgart was our home for the first half of the trip which allowed us to spoke out to a variety of different locations for some incredible experiences.
First up, we went to the Technikmuseum Sinsheim. This place has everything you can think of relating to transportation - and some things not related to it at all! We've been here multiple times in the past and we're still a long way off from learning about everything they have on display there. Extremely rare supersonic commercial jets - check. Military trucks, tanks and planes from multiple eras - check. Historically significant exhibits - check. Europe's largest collection of Formula 1 cars - check. MotoGP bikes - check. This is undoubtedly one of the best museums we've experienced.
After filling our brains with information on the first day of the tour, we made our way to AMG in Affalterbach for a private tour of their facility as well as the HWA, the home of the Mercedes-AMG GT Racing program. Understandably we weren't able to take many photos but we all left with a much higher level of appreciation for the brand and the people that work there. After we finished up at AMG, we made our way to the Porsche Experience Center at Hockenheim for a bit of a track teaser prior to the Nurburgring. Our group took to the track in some beautiful Porsche GT3 RSs and got some great coaching from the expert drivers they have on staff.
The Mercedes-Benz & Porsche museums were next up and photos cannot do either of those facilities justice. The Mercedes-Benz museum definitely stands out as it is not just an automotive museum - it covers a surprising amount of world history and as the creator of the automobile, it's as though the entirety of automotive history is on display. The Porsche museum is always full of historically significant automobiles and their collection is so large that what they have on display is different every year we go.
After our time was up in Stuttgart we were off to Nurburg, where we would spend the next five nights. The area around Nurburg is a special experience for motoring enthusiasts of all types and spending a solid four days there allowed us to experience a variety of things the area has to offer. We explored the museum, neighboring villages, hung out in the busy car parks full of unique machines, watched track action from our hotel room balconies and, of course, did laps of our own in one of the five different track cars we arranged for our time there. As usual, the Nurburgring surpassed all expectations and made it difficult for us to leave when that time finally came. See you next year Nurburg!
